By: Farida I’ve been drinking bulletproof coffee for 1 year since i started the Keto diet and have been drinking it as a way to increase my fat intake.

I’ve always drank it the same way using heavy whipping cream as the fat content. The idea of adding butter to my coffee never did appeal to me but actually it’s the most common fat content that people add to their bulletproof coffee and so I decided to give it a try. Guess what…I LOVED IT!

I drink bulletproof coffee first thing in the morning because it keeps me full and satisfied for a very long time. It means I can focus on my morning routine and get things done before getting the kids off to school in the mornings. After drinking my coffee I can intermittent fast in the morning until around 2oclock in the afternoon which is when I eat my first proper meal.

A lot of people find the idea of adding butter or heavy cream into your coffee not very nice in fact, the response i usually get when I tell someone I add butter to my coffee is “Ewww! how can you add butter to your coffee?” Let me tell you if you use a blender to mix everything together, it emulsifies into the coffee and you get this frothy creamy texture and it actually tastes really delicious – better than normal coffee in fact.

  • 1 tsp coffee
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp or 1 tablet sweetener (optional)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp coconut oil

In this recipe I’m going to show you how I make my version of bulletproof coffee. It’s super simple and super quick and will provide you with that much needed energy when you need it the most. This recipe is also great for someone who has trouble reaching their fat macros for the day and is such a great way to help boost that fat intake while your doing a keto diet.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Boil the kettle as you would normally. Take 1 tsp coffee into a cup, add your sweetener (optional) and add the boiled water. Allow it to brew for 2-3mins or until the liquid has completely cooled down (do not add hot liquids into your blender).

Step 2

Take out the blender. (I like to use my NutriBullet).

Step 3

Add butter, coconut oil and your cooled down coffee into the blender.

Step 4

Blend all the ingredients together for 20secs.

Step 5

That’s it! Pour your coffee into your special cup and enjoy this rich, creamy, frothy cafe style coffee in your own home.
